Reno Air Race Videos-Jet Class
The ONLY Mig-23 Flogger flying in the United States is based out of New Castle, DE. It made an appearance at the DEANG 60th anniversary airshow held at the airport. The pilot was limited to passes at 900 feet or above due to FAA regulations, but just seeing and hearing one made it worthwhile. This clip shows the takeoff and shutting down.
Privately Owned MiG-23UB Flogger N51734
This privately owned MiG-23UB “Flogger” flew during the 2006 New Castle Airshow just outside of Wilmington, Delaware; it was limited as to what it could do in the show for multiple reasons. This is the one of the few times (according to many of the locals) that this MiG-23UB has ever flown; the owner also owned another MiG-23 as well as a MiG-21 Fishbed. The status of all three aircraft is currently unknown though records online show the Floggers have been registered to a new owner in Florida (it was also photographed in FL in 2020) and the Fishbed resides in the Midwest. This video was shot on October 14, 2006 and is the best covered video of this plane’s aerial demonstration that day. The aircraft registration is N51734.
